Showcase announced the renewal of Lost Girl for a fourth season on February 28, 2013, citing consistent delivery of "stellar ratings" and a "cornerstone series" for the network.[1] Later on the same day, Syfy (U.S.) followed with its announcement of a fourth season renewal containing thirteen episodes, and premiering in 2014.[2] Production began on May 31, 2013.[3][4] The show's previous Sunday prime time schedule was changed from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.[5]
♦ Season 4 premiered on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at 10 p.m.
On September 23, 2013, Shaw Media, parent company of Showcase, announced the return of Linda Hamilton in the role of Acacia. Also joining the ensemble cast was Kyle Schmid (as Rainer).[6] Additional fourth season guest stars included Ali Liebert (as Crystal), George Takei (as Engelram), and Mia Kirshner (as Clio).[3][7]
On October 11, 2013, Showcase announced that a special four-part series of original Lost Girl webisodes would lead-in to the premiere of Season 4. The first webisode, UPYURS6, was released on October 13, 2013.[8]
The premiere on November 10, 2013, was preceded by a one-hour special, Lost Girl: An Evening at the Clubhouse. The Showcase program featured cast-on-cast interviews, exclusive webisode footage and a season four sneak peek. During the show, the cast reflected on both the past and upcoming seasons, revealed behind-the-scenes stories, and responded to fan questions.[7][9]
The thirteenth and final episode of the season aired on February 16, 2014.
In the United States, Season 4 premiered on Syfy (U.S.) on January 13, 2014 (with the show's Monday night time slot changed from 10 p.m. to 8 p.m.).[10]
In the United Kingdom (UK and Ireland), it premiered on Syfy (UK) on January 16, 2014.[11]
On January 23, 2014, Syfy (U.S.) announced via Twitter that the time slot for Lost Girl was changed to 10 p.m. effective Monday, January 27, 2014 (returning the series to its pre-Season 4 late-evening broadcast schedule).[12]
Syfy (UK) moved Lost Girl from 10 p.m. to 9 p.m. effective Thursday, February 6, 2014.[13]
In Australia, no television network acquired the rights to Season 4. Instead, the season had its premiere on Stan.com.au on January 26, 2015,[14][15] as content offered by the newly launched online streaming media subscription service.
After four seasons, K.C. Collins left the Main Cast with the death of Hale in Episode 4.11 (End of a Line).
The DVD of Season 4 was released first in the United Kingdom on May 19, 2014; followed by Canada and the United States on June 24, 2014; and the next year in Australia on July 16, 2015.

Story arc
After Bo was engulfed and captured by mysterious black smoke, no one remembers her. A powerful entity has erased the memory of her in Dyson, Lauren, Kenzi, Trick, Hale, Aife, and Vex (who has replaced Evony Fleurette Marquise, The Morrigan, as leader of the Dark Fae). Kenzi has been stealing valuable items in exchange for a magical cream from Massimo that gives her temporary Fae powers to conceal herself with after The Morrigan declared that claimed and employed humans were criminals, and were to be considered terrorists and enemies of the One True State. Lauren has gone into hiding and is working in a diner as a waitress under a false name. When Kenzi and Dyson discover that they each have a Recuerdo Coil implanted in an eye, they go in search for the way to remove it and end its effect on them. When the memory of Bo is restored in everyone, Bo awakens inside the caboose of a moving train. She has been gone for 30 days. Lauren is kidnapped and imprisoned by the Dark and, in return for protection by The Morrigan, agrees to work on behalf of the Dark Fae as their scientist and physician. Tamsin is reborn into her last life and with Kenzi as a "mother" figure moves into The Clubhouse and grows rapidly into an adult. Meanwhile, The Una Mens, a council of Fae created to enforce the laws of The Blood King, arrive in the territory to maintain order and exact punishment upon those who did not conform with, or had defied, the laws. The Keeper is its "grand inquisitor". After Bo has returned to the fold she is shocked to learn that she had somehow chosen alignment with the Dark. Seeking to find out answers to why and how it had happened, Bo finds her way back to the train and meets Rainer, who for centuries has been riding it with other trapped souls, and she helps him escape from it. Rainer was a general that defied The Blood King and died in battle after leading a rebellion against him and his Blood Laws. When the Valkyrie, Tamsin, came to take his soul to Valhalla, the King made a bargain with her: he gave her an extra life in exchange for his soul; then erased Rainer's existence from Fae history and cursed his soul to the Death Train. Hale and Kenzi finally admit that they are in love with each other and he proposes to her, but a vengeful and maniacal Massimo tries to kill Kenzi. Bo finds out that she is The Queen — The One — and her alliance with Rainer will release her evil father from his prison in Hel. Lauren, who knew that The Morrigan still considered Bo a threat, had a secret personal mission and when she overheard the Dark Fae leader tell Trick that everything would be easier if Bo was dead, used a serum on Evony that she developed with Evony's DNA, and turned the tables on the vindictive Fae. Dyson, Tamsin, and Trick join forces to hold back the armies from Hel, and Kenzi makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect Bo from her father and his minions.
