An Ortenax is a fish Fae.
Ortenax feed off memories by extracting them and causing amnesia. Doctor Snook, an ortenax, was seen erasing the memory of the wife of a cheating husband so that she would forget his adultery. Even though they can remove memories, the ortenax do not restore them.

The ortenax is a fish found only in the Euphrates. It was said that anyone holding a bone of this fish lost his memory. Part of the hilt of the Sword of Strange Girdles was made from a rib of this fish. In some references, identified as ortenax.[1]
